Development & Accreditation
At Bon Accord Camera Club, we believe in supporting our members’ photographic journeys at every stage. Our comprehensive approach to learning combines structured learning opportunities with informal mentoring, helping you develop technical skills and a creative vision.
We offer regular workshops and practical sessions throughout the season covering everything from camera basics to advanced techniques. These sessions are led by experienced club members who share their expertise in studio lighting, landscape photography, macro techniques, and digital post-processing. Our well-equipped premises, including a professional studio and digital workroom, provide the perfect environment for hands-on learning.
For members seeking formal recognition of their photography skills, we actively support the pursuit of prestigious accreditations from organisations such as the Royal Photographic Society (RPS) and the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB). Our dedicated Accreditation Group meets monthly to review members’ work and guide those preparing for distinction assessments. Several of our members hold RPS and PAGB distinctions and are happy to mentor others through the submission process.
Beyond formal learning opportunities, our club’s competitive structure provides valuable development through constructive feedback from experienced judges. We operate a two-league system that allows photographers to compete and develop at appropriate skill levels. Monthly competitions and detailed critique sessions help members understand how to elevate their work to the next level.
The club’s varied syllabus includes sessions with visiting speakers who bring our members fresh perspectives and inspiring ideas. During the summer, we supplement our regular programme with practical outdoor sessions, allowing members to apply new techniques in real-world situations. Whether you’re just starting or seeking to refine advanced skills, our supportive community is here to help you achieve your photographic goals.
